St. Patrick's Day - My Favorite Ideas

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We are so good at app smashing in our classrooms...then I started to think about how as teachers we do smashing everyday by taking bits and pieces of great ideas to create over the top lessons for our little friends!

These cupcakes were made by one of my class moms...even the cupcake was a rainbow.  Just beautiful!

Some of favorite things that I've done in the past... I absolutely love doing this activity with my students.  I got the idea from this website:  http://www.mrsminersmonkeybusiness.com/2012/03/incredible-shrinking-leprechaun-hat.html

You give each student a regular styrofoam cup and have them transform the hat into a leprechaun hat using permanent markers.  Then you make a big deal about the The Legend of the Leprechaun Hat.  The teacher that I shared the link with has an adorable poem that tells about the legend.  The students get so into this.

The cups then go into the oven and when the students return this is what they look like!  Somehow they shrink into perfect (pretty fragile) little leprechaun hats.

I think the look on this little guy's face says it all!  It is truly amazing!

I really want to try this...Magic Leprechaun Rocks.  Guess what I'll be doing this weekend...are you in Tosha?  Here is the link to this fun idea:  http://www.giftofcuriosity.com/magic-leprechaun-rocks-st-patricks-activity/

Leprechaun traps are of course over the top exciting and uses great problem solving skills and tons of creativity!
Just got this from: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/St-Patricks-Day-Packet-on-Making-Inferences-598715.  I love the clue hunt and bingo type game.

Tell us, in our comments section, about the great things you do in your classroom on St. Patrick's Day!!  We would love to hear about your ideas!!
